The official BMDCR meeting minutes are
published in the Messenger, our newsletter. These notes are a brief
summary of the key decisions both from the board of directors and the general
membership.
May 20, 2012
- The board decided not to adopt the email
program "Constant Contact" for use by the club to disseminate information.
- Buffy Snyder and Barry Solomon will create a survey to seek input on
ways to improve communication and encourage new members to participate in
club activities.
- Vicki Chesser will craft a letter to welcome new members; she & Joanna
Hughes will contact new members by phone for welcome & encouragement to
become active members
- Next meeting and Bernerfiesta will be at Lori and Don Kennedy's home on
July 22, 2012
- Barry Solomon moved to purchase a trailer for BMDCR draft equipment with
a cap of $2500. Val Horney seconded. Motion approved. Barry will research
sizes and prices of trailers with a side door and walk in back door.
- New sustaining members: Byron & Yoshi Petersen. New voting member: Barb
Callen LeTourneau
March 25, 2012
- The 2011 regional specialty lost $719.00
- The Fall 2011 draft test lost $55.00
- A separate checking account for rescue will
be established. It will be initially funded with $5000.00 from the
general fund checking account and $5279.62 from an existing rescue CD.
Additionally a debit card for the new account will be issued to facilitate
paying for rescue services.
- The club will subsidize the dessert course
with a cap of $250.00 for the 2012 specialty dinner.
- The Club club will sponsor High Scoring and
BOB trophies (cost of $200 total) for the 2012 specialty.
- Lori Kennedy heads a task force on finding
ways to store club property. Options include a trailer for draft test
equipment and a storage space for historian and hospitality items. No
decision yet.
- The board would like to make clear that club
channels of communication cannot be used to promote members private
enterprises.
- The board would like the club's previous
website (bmd.org) to look less like the official one (bmdcr.org), to not
contain any club references, and to not violate any club copyrights.
The BMDCR rescue application form will need to be recreated on the official
website since it does not exist there.
- The Bernerfiesta will not be held in
conjunction with the draft clinic.
- Tentative draft clinic dates are June 16 &
17. The location is still TBD.
- The club will match $250 of raised
contributions for the Furry Scurry.
- New Sustaining Members Lee Ann McCaslin,
Greta Ritschard, Patricia Tackett, Lynette Weaver
New Voting Member Kelly Pickett
November 20. 2011
- The Board approved paid advertising in
the Newsletter. The fee will be $5 per ad. Contact Buffy Snider for
details.
- The Awards Banquet will be at Marie
Callender’s on January 22. Contact Lou Tucker for details.
- The Spring Draft Test will be April 21 &
22. Contact Lori Kennedy for details.
- The 2012 BMDCR Regional Specialty will
be September 7. Dottie is still looking for a volunteer to chair Raffle,
Rally, and Grounds.
- The new Officers and Board were elected
and they are Vice President Lori Kennedy, Secretary Alice Clark, and
Boardmembers Vicki Chesser, Helen Karl, and Barry Solomon.
- We welcome three new sustaining members:
Debbie Garvey, Margaret Kooda, and Priscilla Young.
July 24. 2011
- We had a presentation by Dr. Jennifer
Frick, an orthopedic surgeon at VCA Alameda East Veterinary Hospital.
She gave an informative presentation on common hip, elbow, and knee
problems in Berners and described how they can be treated.
- Over the past few months BMDCR members
donated $1390 to a fundraiser to support Dr. Breen’s research into
histiocytosis. The membership today voted to match that amount from the
club treasury for a total of $2780.
- The club voted to donate up to $375
toward trophies for next year’s Peak to Peak Working Group show
- The club voted to donate $100 to the
general trophy fund for the 2012 National Specialty in Gettysburg, PA.
- The club voted to donate $300 for
morning hospitality for the 2012 National Specialty.
- The Nominating Committee was named.
Sharon Keefer will chair it.
- A task Force to be chaired by Sara Karl
will review our current bylaws and determine where updates are needed.
Emergency meetings, non-in person meetings, and a streamlined sustaining
membership application process are some of the key areas to be reviewed.
Initial members are Sharon Johnson and Stacy Temples.
- Newly elected members are Patty
Wellinger (V), Kirstin Gillespie (S), Mary Ann Marszalek (S), Larry
Parachini (S), Pam Swisher (S), Susanne Thompson (S), Elizabeth Watkins
(S), and Nancy Winegar (S).
- The next meeting will be September 25.
Time and place TBD due to the dog show that day.
